The Delivery Lead manages one or more capability-aligned software delivery teams. Delivery Leads are accountable for their teams' contribution to the business value stream assigned to them. They will also exhibit the principles and practices of Lean-Agile leadership which build long-term and continuously improving delivery capabilities.

Line manages; sets objectives; agrees personal development plans and provides regular feedback to team members
Manages the budget of the value streams delivered through their teams
Manages stakeholders and, in particular, builds an excellent partnership with the Capability Owner/s
Identifies, documents, negotiates and oversees engagements with vendors and consultancy suppliers
Supports the teams and works with them to remove blockers, enabling them to meet their agreed commitments
Partners with the Engineering Lead to ensure the technology roadmap for the business is appropriate and aligned with the technical strategy
Partners with the Engineering Lead to ensure the backlogs balance incremental delivery of value with appropriate technical quality
Works closely with the Solution Architect to ensure alignment of solutions to business requirement
Ensures appropriate input is provided and considered by all stakeholders for key strategic decisions and problem-solving discussions
Partners with the Capability Owner to advocate the roadmap ensuring its appropriateness for both the business and technology
Collaborates and contributes within the delivery community to define best practices for GT teams globally
Accountable for ensuring delivery teams work to increase efficiency and effectiveness through creative problem solving, improved collaboration, alignment and self-organisation
Ensures that stakeholder input on the delivery lifecycle is sought and collated across all groups
Manages and reports deliverables against agreed scope and/or timelines
Ensures that there is appropriate and timely reporting to the domain, including information such as delivery status, budget changes, financial forecasting and actuals, risks, dependencies, etc.
Ensures team working practices adhere to and are compliant with our SDLC (Software Delivery Lifecycle) policy
Ensures there is capacity for removing technical debt
Pro-actively works with Internal Audit to understand, identify and (where possible) prevent audit issues surfacing. If issues are identified, reviews and agrees the solution and associated timelines for resolving any issues within GT’s risk appetite.
In partnership with Group Change, helps coach the Capability Owner to improve their product ownership skills
Works with the Capability Owner and stakeholders to explore problems and elicits an understanding of true business needs, leveraging tools such as personas, empathy maps, customer journeys, and story maps
Builds in feedback loops, to learn fast and minimise risk
Ensures there is capacity for experimentation and innovation, to promote a culture of continuous improvement
Ensures there is high visibility of the flow of value through the software delivery pipeline and uses metrics to improve efficiency of delivery to identify areas of improvements and to measure the end-to-end effects of experiments to improve
Supports project managers in understanding the technology impacts and work required to deliver business outcomes
Ensures that dependencies with other technology functions are prioritised and managed in line with GT process

Experience of managing people and developing their talent within software delivery teams
Experience of successfully applying a range of delivery frameworks (ideally including SAFe), having understood the difference and values of each)
Knowledge and experience of identifying appropriate technology solutions, understanding the difference between in-house-developed bespoke applications and commercially available off-the-shelf solutions
Excellent communication skills to help manage relationships with stakeholders of all levels
Excellent ability to quickly understand the context of the business they support
Ability to communicate how the work delivered by the teams contributes to the strategy of the organisation
Ability to produce and communicate effective and insightful thought leadership on technical and business topics
Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
